The Purple Rose of Cairo
In this, one of only two Woody Allen romantic comedies in which he doesn’t appear (the other is Vicky Cristina Barcelona), a film character, Tom Baxter (Jeff Daniels), enters the real world and the heart of Depression-era lonely heart, Cecilia (Mia Farrow). Vicky Cristina Barcelona

In this free-spirited comedy about complex romantic entanglements, Allen draws astonishingly good performances from stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
