Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

We are a boutique-style photography studio specializing in weddings and portraits, including families, boudoir and pets. Photography has been my passion for over 15 years. It was while planning my own wedding three years ago that I decided to make the business official.

What was your vision when you first started your business, and what is it now?

Originally I didn’t want to photograph weddings, but during the planning of my own wedding I became frustrated with my photography options. I have since made it my goal to offer superior service, flexible, affordable packages alongside artistic, high-quality images.

What is the best part of doing business in this community?

The people and businesses in this community make you feel like you are part of a family. Many of my clients have since become my friends. I love meeting new people and having that sense of support from my community.

What was your first job, and what did you learn from the experience?

My first job was here in Folsom as a hostess at Lyon’s Restaurant. I learned about customer service, including the importance of treating each customer as unique and not just another table.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We donate photography packages to local fundraisers. I also partner with local businesses to trade services.

What is the best thing about being the boss?

Being able to maintain a consistent creative vision and company mission are true bonuses. Setting my own hours and traveling for events doesn’t hurt either!

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Being the first in my family to graduate from college, as well as leaving the corporate world to run my own business.

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

My role model in life is my big sister. Growing up with her wasn’t always easy, but I learned a lot from her. She has always been successful and has worked hard to raise a beautiful family. She is always there for me when I need her.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

First to my husband; he is my rock. I also like to take my dogs to Lake Natoma to throw sticks and play by the water.

And finally, customer service is…?

The look of gratitude on a client’s face when they first see their images.
