Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
It found me. My husband, beauty industry sales people, and others in the industry were constantly encouraging me to open my own salon. Sometimes, a little push is all you need in order to have the courage to be the best that you can be.
What was your vision when you first started your business, and what is it now?
I wanted to build a salon that catered to the needs of professionals; people for whom style is an integral part of their career image. We’ve stayed true to that principle and have found our niche.
What is the best part of doing business in this community?
Folsom is such a diverse and dynamic town, and that fact is reflected in our clientele and the local businesses. It’s that energy and attitude that makes Folsom such a great place to do business. It’s very exciting to be part of a rapidly growing and expanding town that still maintains its small- town values. It’s great to be part of a community that works together and plays together for the benefit of all.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
Community involvement is a responsibility, we think, for any business. We support Locks For Love (donating hair to be made into wigs for chemotherapy patients); the local Girl Scouts (we sponsor evening events where Girl Scouts can visit us and learn about personal care techniques); we are donators to the Folsom Food Bank, and of course are members of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce. In addition, we sponsor a local youth motocross racer. We also support a local book club and a number of other worthy activities in Folsom. We feel it’s the right way to say thank you.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
I think the reason that our clients have voted us the “Best of the Best” so many times over the years is our attention to their needs. We are a service business and we try never to forget that. We exist to fulfill their needs, not ours. We continually attend educational courses to stay abreast of the changing technology. In fact, most of us are former instructors for hair color companies. We strive to be professional and to provide an individually tailored, personalized experience for our clients.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
“The Little Engine that Could.” I think I can, I know I can…and I do!
And finally, customer service is…?
Always exceeding your customer’s expectations.
