Looks can be deceiving.
Just stand outside Chef Beth Sogaard’s Amador Vintage Market on Main Street in Plymouth and you’ll realize what I mean once you enter. The size is much larger than you’d think, containing a spacious wine bar separate from the deli, a large kitchen visible from where you order, and high and low tables available in the sitting area.
The menu consists of deli-type selections such as sandwiches, salads, and the soup of the day – Truffle Asparagus. Also available are entrées and sides you can choose to enjoy at the eatery or have boxed to take home or picnic. These options range from crab cakes to stuffed peppers and grilled onion heads to Italian turkey meatloaf.
I decided on their Grilled Vegetable Sandwich rather quickly. Served on focaccia bread that had been smeared with a garlic aioli spread, the sandwich was filled with onions, bell peppers, carrots, asparagus and zucchini. I also sampled Chef Beth’s grilled artichoke. Although served with a mayonnaise dipping sauce, the flavors of the olive oil and the grilled texture of the leaves were plenty flavorful to enjoy without the dip.
It came to my attention, after I enjoyed my meal, that I had ordered strictly vegetarian options; however, meat-lovers should know that there are plenty of carnivorous selections too! Whether it’s balsamic pork tenderloin or the house smoked salmon you’re craving, Amador Vintage Market has you covered. And while you’re there, be sure to check out the homemade hummus and sun-dried tomato spreads in the refrigerated section. Both seemed to be quite popular with other diners! Small treats and olive oils are also available to purchase.
After one visit, your taste buds are sure to get hooked on the gourmet style of Chef Beth Sogaard’s delicious and healthy fare!
