Verbena Flowers & Trimmings

Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
We are a full-service florist and create one-of-a-kind arrangements based on our customers’ desires. I’ve dreamed about owning a flower shop since high school; I just love the natural beauty of flowers. Our new Trimmings shop features vintage and eclectic décor items, unique gifts, organic candles, Tokyo Milk, and other specialty soaps and perfumes. I try to find items that I would use myself or would give to a special friend. I want to feature products that my customers want, so I’ll continually ask for their opinions to get them involved, too.
How are you involved with the community and your customers?
We donate to local schools, events and to the chamber of commerce; in addition, we offer workshops at the store. I’ve found that people like to buy beautiful arrangements, but they also like to try their own hand at designing and creating. Every few months we’ll have a themed class like “Designing with Fruit, Flowers and Vegetables” or “Creating a Centerpiece.” People can bring their own vase, buy some flowers and then learn how to create an arrangement with the advice of a professional florist. This inspires my own customers’ creativity, just like I was inspired working at the fabric store.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
We are all creative. The details are also very important to us, which shows in the final product. Plus, we never forget that it is because of each and every customer that we are able to work in this environment.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
Working with my daughter to create a successful shop.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
A local family makes homemade pot stickers and delivers them to area businesses every Friday. They’re delicious!
And finally, customer service is…?
What the customer wants always comes first. We want every arrangement to reflect the personality and sentiment of our customers, whatever the occasion.
Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Wendy Sipple at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
