Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
Barcellona Bites is a personal chef service. I do everything, from an elegant dinner for two in someone’s home to a party of 100. I also provide a lot of business entertaining for companies both in homes and in their place of business. I’ve owned an advertising agency, Barcellona, Inc. since 1994, but went to culinary school just for fun in 2009. I chronicled my adventures in a blog called “Barcellona Bites,” and once I graduated, it slowly turned into a business. Now I do both. It keeps me fresh and creative in all areas. My online menu planning service grew out of my desire to plan tasty meals for my family during the week without having to spend so many hours scouring cookbooks. For only $19.95 per month, my subscribers receive an email every Friday morning with their upcoming week’s menus, recipes and shopping list. They get to choose from different menu categories, like “Quick Family Meals” or “Light & Tasty.”
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
My entire family has been very involved in the community since we moved here 20 years ago. I’ve been on the Folsom Parks and Recreation Commission, the Library Commission and the Folsom Community Council; in addition, I’ve been involved with Girl Scouts for 11 years and donated hundreds of hours in volunteer activities to a myriad of activities throughout the city.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
I feel I’m the best in the business because I provide a level of quality and service not found with larger businesses. I am a “boutique” type of business; everything I do is custom, and my aim is to surpass all expectations to provide a memorable experience.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Physically, my flexible schedule; emotionally, bringing happiness to people.
Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?
We love Folsom’s trails for walking, jogging and biking.

Best given often and in big doses.
