Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I found Advicoach while working with my brother, Skip, in Houston, Texas, as an entrepreneur’s source coach. With a great career at Intel Corporation and business ownership, I found that I really enjoyed mentoring/coaching. I acquired the Advicoach franchise license and moved it back to California from Texas.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
Since the early ’90s, I have been involved with the Holy Trinity “Kidder Klassic” golf tournament benefitting the Human Concerns Committee ministry. Our coaching discipline focuses the business owner on giving back as part of their goals.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
Franchise Source Brands International (FSBI), our parent company, has the best education and ongoing support for coaches, which focuses a coach on client acquisition and long-term support.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
My 39-year marriage to my best friend Karen; we met at Oklahoma University and are still going strong!
Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?
Karen and I enjoy the Amador County wine country, the local movie theater, and taking long hikes.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Pope John Paul II. He represented all of us and touched our youth in such positive ways.
What’s your favorite local event that you go to?
Amador County Barrel Tasting in the fall (October) and fireworks at Raley Field in the spring/summer.
And finally, customer service is…?
Ultimately, a business exists to do two things: attract customers and satisfy them. If your business doesn’t perform these two fundamental functions, it doesn’t matter how well you do anything else. If your customers don’t feel inspired by their interactions with you, then your business – the business you felt such freedom in starting, the business you have poured everything into – will fail before you even see it coming.
