Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I grew up in Granite Bay and attended Jesuit High School. During my senior year, I decided I wanted to be an orthodontist. It took 11 years of schooling, but it was what I wanted to do and it was worth it. During my final year of residency, I began looking for practices to buy and this one not only happened to be for sale, but was also the same place where I got my braces as a kid – it seemed like a perfect fit.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
I can honestly say we have the most personable, fun, competent and caring staff I could ever ask for. I love coming to work because our patients and staff are so much fun to be around.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
During my orthodontic residency at Boston University, I was fortunate enough to work under Dr. Anthony Gianelly – one of the true giants in the field of orthodontics as far as academics goes. He lectured all over the world and wrote textbooks and many journal articles; he passed away a month before my graduation, but I’m fortunate to have learned from him for three years.
What’s your favorite local event that you go to?
I love going to Kings games. I developed a love for the team in the early ’90s when I was a kid and would often go to games. Even while I was away at college, I would attend games when I was home visiting. I also saw a few of their away games when I lived in Los Angeles and Boston.
If you could be any other profession what would it be?
I would definitely be a chef or work in ministry. I love cooking (probably because I love eating) and I also have a passion for reading, learning, and talking about God’s word.
