Family and Italian food go together like spaghetti and meatballs.
So when your family is hungry for fare that’s saucy and satisfying, take them to Strings Italian Café. With menu choices including seafood, chicken and traditional pasta dishes, as well as pizzas, calzones and sandwiches, there is something for everyone.
On a recent night out, we were seated right away and our friendly server was quick to give us attention. We started with the Shrimp Scampi appetizer – a bowl of fragrant shrimp that was lemony and garlicky with just the right touch of herbs. It was the perfect size for two people, so be sure to get a double order if there are lots of shrimp lovers at your table.
Since I was in the mood for a traditional Italian dinner, I selected the Mama Nina Combo as my entrée. First came a cup of minestrone soup that was flavorful and brimming with veggies, beans and pasta. Then came the combo plate! Half was stacked with a large portion of meaty lasagna and the other half was spaghetti and a meatball. That’s right, the meatball was singular but generously sized and very tasty. The Mama Nina Combo is what I consider to be true Italian comfort food.
Our teenager had warned us that she wanted “something stuffed with cheese!” and she was not disappointed with the Cheese Stuffed Shells entrée. Served with marinara and alfredo sauce and baked with Italian cheese, she confirmed, (repeatedly), that it was delicious.
Our server offered to read the dessert menu to us, since it was posted on the wall and not visible from our table. We decided to split a slice of cheesecake, which was a great choice! The creamy texture and raspberry sauce adorning the top were heavenly. As we enjoyed this sweet ending to our meal, we plotted our return trip to Strings Italian Café.
