Vista del Lago High SchoolTell us about yourself.
I’m a senior at Vista del Lago High School, row for Capital Crew and am involved in several clubs on campus. I love to read and travel, and hope to become a lawyer one day.
What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
I’m most proud of founding the Girls’ Empowerment Network (GEN) at my school. I was born with congenial ptosis, which means that the muscle over my left eyelid never formed. I was self-conscious about it throughout middle school and most of high school; it wasn’t until the end of high school that I realized other kids suffered from low self-esteem as well, so I decided to create a club to support and build a positive environment on campus. I hope GEN helps others as much as it has helped me.
What are your school interests, involvements and hobbies?
I’m president of Key Club and Girls’ Empowerment Network, and have rowed for Capital Crew throughout high school. When I’m not busy balancing clubs, sports and schoolwork, I also enjoy photography.
What’s one thing that not many people know about you?
I lived in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, for a year when I was eight years old.
What are your plans after graduation?
I want to go to a four-year college and would love to spend a year traveling abroad as well.
Who is your role model?
Both of my parents—they have always supported me and been great examples for my siblings and me.
Describe your career aspirations.
My goal is to go to law school and become a lawyer.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I would really like to visit Rome. It’s a city with so much history and culture; I’d love to spend time seeing all the sites.
