Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

The love of wine tasting in the foothills found me back in the ’80s, and now I’m sharing that passion and experience with others through fun, safe, informative wine tours and elegant picnics. Our tour area includes over 150 wineries so they can be customized for any group, with no two ever the same. “Make your passion your business and it will never be work.”

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

While providing our customers with a wonderful wine tasting experience, we also work closely with the wineries to bring them new customers. As such, Sierra Wine Experience fills a niche in bringing local wine producers and patrons together—a win-win! We also donate fully catered wine tours to various local fund-raising events at nonprofits, such as KVIE Public Television and the Rotary Club of Folsom.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

I was on my own at age 15, worked my way through three college degrees—without the benefit of student loans and little other financial support—then spent a career as an environmental scientist, along with some other interesting business and philanthropic ventures. Looking back, there were a thousand points when I could’ve quit—I didn’t.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

My kitchen. Cooking a fabulous meal (with some good wine, of course) frees my mind and allows me to appreciate the good things in life, rather than the stressors. Alternatively, heading out with a good camera to capture nature at its finest.

And finally, customer service is…?

Listening, understanding what the customer wants, delivering, and always doing what you say you’ll do. “Your word is your bond.”

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Megan Wiskus at megan@stylemg.com. Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
