Foodie Find – Wingstop

I never expected such a genuine community feel when I popped into this stop. That’s what my boyfriend and I kept reiterating when we ate at Wingstop recently, where manager Trista reaches out to the community through multiple fund-raisers…and her genuine hospitality. But this joint isn’t just for community service—its primary mission is to provide stomachs with sustenance. With a range of flavorful, mild-to-spicy wings and incredible sides, it’s not hard to see why people love Wingstop. We ordered a 10-piece Boneless Wing Combo, which came with our choice of two flavors (we went with Atomic and Garlic-Parmesan), plus one homemade side, one dip and a drink. Since we couldn’t stop at just one side, however, we ordered smoky-sweet Bourbon baked beans, creamy potato salad, crunchy coleslaw, so-soft-they-melt-in-your-fingers rolls and French fries. And because Wingstop uses only fresh chicken (you won’t even find a microwave in the back), those wings were the freshest and juiciest I’ve ever tasted. The Atomic ones were packed full of flavor with a lingering heat that emerged only after you thought it was safe, and the Garlic Parmesan variety was deliciously cheesy and crunchy. Wingstop is truly a Folsom gem—for their philanthropic attitude and tasty, all-American food. Wingstop, 1115 East Bidwell Street, Folsom. 916-984-2000.
