Folsom a Top Place for Young Families: Study

Folsom is the second best place for young families in California, according to a new study from personal finance website

The study cites local graduation rates, plentiful parks and job opportunities in its ranking. 

“Great schools, great parks and great jobs await young families in Folsom,” the study says. “… Local graduation rates here are well above the state average … (and) Families can enjoy outdoor fun at Castle Park or go ice skating in the winter at the historic Sutter Street Ice Rink in the Folsom historic district.”

The study also cited the local employment market, naming Folsom to its list of top 10 California cities for job seekers 

Nerd Wallet ranked 20 California towns based on the following criteria:

  • GreatSchools city rating
  • Median home value 
  • Monthly homeowner costs 
  • Median household income 
  • Income change between 1999 and 2011 

The following California towns were listed in the Top 10 by Nerd Wallet:

  1. Clovis
  2. Folsom
  3. Yuba
  4. Murrieta
  5. Irvine
  6. Lake Forest
  7. Redlands
  8. Roseville
  9. Davis
  10. Walnut Creek
