Q: Do children who attend preschool have an advantage over those who don’t?

A: Yes! Children attending a preschool program definitely receive advantages. The staff at high-quality preschools create a nurturing environment, which helps develop the social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills necessary to thrive in kindergarten; academically, the demands of kindergarten are high, so we want to get children well-prepared while still allowing them to play and explore. Preschool teaches children to be comfortable in a group setting, separate easily from a caregiver, and have trusting relationships with other adults. Preschool also helps children cooperate with and care about other children.
