Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
Elder Care Management (ECM) provides education, support, and advocacy for older adults and their families. Care managers assess needs and outline a path for the future; they also oversee care for those who have family out of the area or have no one to look after them.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
I work with families to advocate for their loved ones, educate them on options, troubleshoot during a crisis, and support them in making good decisions. I’ve also been a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association, where I facilitate a support group in El Dorado Hills, for the past six years.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Working with a generation that has so much to give. Our clients have lived lives that are full of joy, heartbreak, love, and wisdom.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
Karen’s Bakery and Café is our family’s favorite spot. Their food is the best.
What’s your favorite local business other than your own?
Folsom Physical Therapy. I’ve been attending a back class there for 17 years. Michael Moore is a true healer!
And finally, customer service is…?
Customer service means being present. Our staff is available to families 24 hours a day. As an owner, I’m always happy to talk to someone who needs advice and help—we may not be the right service for them, but I want to make sure they get to the resources they need.
