Glynns Thomas

El Dorado Hills, 916-294-7926,

Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Though photography has been a longtime love of mine, the idea for Glynns Thomas Portraits came after living abroad in India and Dubai. I was truly drawn to the people there, and the portraits I created were deeply meaningful to them. When I returned to the U.S. in 2016, I knew my mission was to create beautiful portraits for people that would become family heirlooms.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

My first job in photography was a product shoot for Arrowhead Water in the ’90s. You may think that photographs of water bottles can’t be interesting, but I learned how light quality can transform mood, desire, and interest.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Having my photographs included in National Geographic and Lonely Planet, winning several creative innovation awards at places I have worked (Orange County Department of Education, advertising agencies, and Wells Fargo, to name a few), and my two fantastic teenagers.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Fat’s Asia Bistro is a family favorite. Their pork shu mei is so good!

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Camping in Northern California in the fall. The smell of the woods, cooking bacon in a skillet over an open campfire, hiking, the sunshine…it’s one of best reasons to live here.

And finally, customer service is…?

Why I do what I do. Portrait photography, to me, is a great excuse to give someone a wonderful experience. Call me crazy, but I get really excited to serve someone. It’s not too different from having family and friends over for a holiday meal; we collaborate on a theme and ideas, I plan and prepare, and we all get together for a relaxing and fun time. Come on over!
