“I’m always looking for a non-caffeinated way to add some pep in my step, so when I found Cielo Acai Café in Roseville, I was thrilled at the prospect of filling up my tank without the post-coffee crash. Their "Build Your Own” Acai Bowl allows me a choice of three basic toppings (granola is usually a staple, along with peanut butter and bananas) on a traditional acai bowl. It’s fresh, fun, fast, and gives me the extra energy to finish my day! What more could I ask for?”

“The Chipotle Tacos at Zest Kitchen in Rocklin are my ‘healthy in a hurry’ option. The quick pick-me-up contains three organic corn tortillas loaded with chipotle chickpeas, lime-cilantro cabbage slaw, a cashew lime sour crème, and fresh cilantro on top. I sometimes add avocado when I’m feeling indulgent, too. The plant-based plate is crisp, colorful, and exactly what I need most days.”

“I’ve recently embarked on a hard-core fitness regime that requires me to load up on protein and other good stuff. No more potato chips for me! ProTrain Food for Fitness in Carmichael allows me to go in and grab a pre-made salad that provides the perfect food fuel. Their Greek Salad with Chicken packs a punch with romaine lettuce, herbed roasted chicken, feta cheese, kalamata olives, red onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers in a red wine vinaigrette. With every chopstick-full, you can taste the freshness and love put into each bowl. Eating lunch out doesn’t make me feel guilty any more; and, if anything, it keeps me away from the deep-fried, fatty stuff.”

“I could never quit sandwiches cold turkey and move solely to salads, no matter how healthy I’m trying to be. It’s just not in my DNA. The Turkey Sandwich at Main Street Melters in Placerville strikes the perfect balance between healthy and indulgent.
