Capital Dance Project Presents First-Ever Local Sensor-Friendly Dance Performance
Capital Dance Project (CDP) – an independent collective of Sacramento’s professional dancers – is proud to return to the historic Crest Theatre for a third summer of innovative dance programming in collaboration with local artists and musicians. This season also marks the first- ever local Sensory-Friendly Dance Performance. The summer feature shows will take place at the Crest Theatre August 25 through 27.
To kick off the summer performances, CDP has partnered with the Sacramento Kings and Kings Foundation to sponsor the first-ever Sensory-Friendly Dance Performance in the area. This Sensory- Friendly Dance Performance is part of an outreach effort designed specifically for individuals with Autism and other sensory related disabilities to attend with their families. By creating a performance that is sensory-friendly, an environment of acceptance and understanding by reducing loud or shocking sounds and flashing lights which can overstimulate sensory sensitive individuals. CDP and the Kings are committed to creating opportunities that are accessible for everyone in the greater Sacramento community. The performance will take place at the Crest Theatre on Friday, August 25th at 6 p.m.
Through a special partnership with Ticketmaster, tickets are available for purchase at Kings.com/CapitalDance. To make this special performance an even greater success, CDP and the Kings Foundation are asking people to consider purchasing and donating their tickets to families with sensory related disabilities—most of whom do not attend performances due to cost and other circumstances.
Following the Sensory-Friendly Dance Performance, Capital Dance Project (CDP) has teamed up with some of Sacramento’s most exciting visual artists and musicians to captivate audiences with their third annual production of Behind the Barre: Made in Sacramento.
The performances will take place on Saturday, August 26 at 7 p.m and a matinee showing on Sunday, August 27 at 2 p.m. at the Crest Theatre. For ticketing information, please visit: http://www.capitaldanceproject.org/tickets.html
