Camellia Day in Folsom

A variety of camellia blooms will be on display Feb. 24, 2018 at the fourth annual Camellia Day in Folsom. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Murer House and Gardens, 1125 Joe Murer Court. Greg Gayton of Green Acres Nursery will talk about camellias and offer tips on growing them. He will speak at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Representatives from the Camellia Society of Sacramento will be on hand to help identify camellia varieties and answer questions about growing and caring for them. Those who have camellias in their gardens are invited to display up to five blooms and have a chance to win ribbons for “People’s Choice” and other prize divisions. Blooms will be accepting starting at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 24. Attendees can also enter a drawing for camellia plants. Tours of Murer House and Gardens will be offered that day. There is no charge to attend, take a tour or enter the camellia contest. The Murer House and Gardens is across Folsom Boulevard from historic Sutter Street. The home was built by Guiseppe Murer of Italy who purchased the site in 1921 and constructed the home in 1925.
